More than “Just a Game”
Once again my wonderful friends has farmed a pet for me. I was trying myself, getting mind-numbingly bored killing raptors in Gundrak and he must have got fed up of me prattling on in guild chat, so he went off and farmed it too…. Of course he got the drop. So he presented me with a fantastic gift of a Gundrak Hatchling.

It got me thinking again about this stupid game we play and what different people enjoy about the game. I get my fun from the social side of things. I like to laugh and joke and talk to people. I go much deeper than just the “hello” when I log in. I get to know the folks I play with. I find out their real names, their birthdays, things about their families. For me it’s so much more than just a game and this is where my husband Barkie and I don’t match. He logs in, plays and logs out. I log in, talk to a lot of people, check they are all well and happy, catch up on my easy dailies (fishing and cooking), talk to more people, flirt with some I pass in Dalaran, talk a bit more, raid (while talking on vent - I have trouble talking in game and raiding - raiding is “srs bsns”). Then I finish raiding, talk some more and finally manage to find a quiet moment to log out. I also chat to people when I’m doing my auctions, it’s boring there as I have my own guild (for the bank space) so there is nobody to talk to.
But I digress - I meant to write about the things people do for others in the game. Most of my guild indulge me in my quest for pets, dresses, odd collectable things - they farm mats, come to all sorts of instances at all sorts of times. Some actually take time out to farm the pets for me. I’ve still not really worked out why. I just wanted to say thanks!
