Sooooooo much more than just a game
Again, I’ve been crying because of WOW. Another long-standing friend has been unbelievably kind to me. I’ve known this guy for 3.5 years or so. He used to play the only Paladin that would heal my rogue. The only perosn in a 40 man raid other than myself who would try to help me keep alive. We used to laugh together behind our old raid leader’s back because he was sneakily healing me when he was told not to
Anyway. Mooching around Dalaran the other evening, I saw a new rogue flirting with me. I don’t like people talking to me when I don’t recognise them. I talk to so many people that it’s hard for me to keep up my “you’re the only one that matters to me” nature when I don’t know who I’m talking to. Anyway, it turns out that it’s my old friend who has decided to rename his rogue. I teased him a bit about having more money than sense and joked that if he was going to throw money around, he should throw it my way and buy me a Lil ‘ K.T. pet instead.
He’d not heard of the Blizzard store pets, so I showed him my Pandaren Monk and we talked a bit about what they did. He then said maybe he’d better get me a late Christmas present and asked for my email. He bought me the pet. I cried. Again.

Even after all this time playing, I still can’t quite get my head round someone spending money on me when I’ve never met them. I talked to Barkie, who is trying to get more “social networking” into his business and we agreed that it seems to be a gift that I have, whereas he can’t quite see the point in it. Being a friendly, trusting soul has such benefits, I can’t see me acting any other way.
I’ve been gifted so much happiness in WOW there is so much more to it than it just being a game for me. It IS my social network. Most of my facebook friends are WOW ones. The little bit of twitter I do involves people I’ve “met” through WOW.
So - I’m up to 119 pets. I’m 53 out of 100 people pugged with on the way to my Perky Pug. I have to wait until Children’s Week for the last one I can get.
I’m a happy girl. Happy 2010. Happy New Decade. Share your happiness. Share yourself. The rewards you get in return are SO worth it.

Its amazing the connection you can make without ever even seeing someone isn’t it!
Btw, I didn’t even know you were on facebook :p You’re gonna have to add me now!
Things in Aussie are still great, I’m travelling around Queensland now, only about 5 weeks left before I go home :/ Time flies!
Take care,
