Glory of the Ulduar Raider.
So - Algalon was dead, but there were still achievements to be had in order to get the second aim of the evening - the Glory of the Ulduar Raider with its Rusted Proto-Drake reward.
I nipped back to the archive place to hand in the news that I’d found the entrance to Algalon (I decided not to let on that I’d kinda killed him too) and picked up 4 quests to kill each of the watchers hard mode style.
We moved on to Kologarn where the rest of the raid were waiting for me and quickly sent him off, making sure we killed his arms and him together (I’d done this one already too). Then to the bits of trash. The guild I was with did them in a way I’d not seen before, so more to save up and tell the guild. As cat woman was over the other side we nipped down the icy corridor to Hodir. Pew Pew Pew - he went down incredibly quickly and we had 2 chests to open. More achievement spam for my poor guild.
As we came out from Hodir, Freya jumped us. So we killed her, but left her cats alive. This was another achievement I already had. It was all so fast and so smooth…. We went to Thorim and I was assigned to tunnel duty. No problems there. I called out which side the nasties were coming and we moved swiftly along the corridor and joined the rest of the raid. Fortunately for this not so agile priest I didn’t get any sparks my way and managed to heal as best I could. Down went Thorim (again one I’d already done with my friends).
We moved to the conservatory. I was a little more concerned about Freya. Her adds and stuff are a bit horrible to heal through and I wasn’t totally sure what leaving the big trees up would add to the fight, but we did that one too. I stood under mushrooms when I had to and shielded as many people as I could. We got 2 achievements for her.

On to Mimiron. This was the kill I was most expecting to fail on, personally. I am rubbish at moving and healing and absolutely useless at keeping out of the laser barrage. Adding fire to the mix scared me a lot! I decided to make friends with the tree and keep close to him. It worked. We killed it without me dying. I think we lost a mage, but they are made of paper and always die anyway
I like the smiley face on the achievement…

So - that was my four guardian quests done! Two more achievements to get….
On to Vezax. I can’t say that I remember much about this fight. I tried to save my mana and shielded the tank when I could. I have no clue what the Animus looked like or how they managed to kill it - I spent my time under the feet of the boss. But it worked. I got another 2 achievments.

And so we arrived at Yogg-Saron. The people who were along for the ride were instructed to stay by the door for Phase 1. We did and I kept us all healed and shielded. We had a few wipes, quite a few wipes. Much crossness among the uber team, reminding of tasks and general scary guild talk followed…. I think the guild I ran with were a trifle embarrassed because they refunded some of the gold I’d payed, which was lovely and unexpected of them - thanks guys
Eventually we got it right and all alone we managed to defeat the old God.
The 3 of us who were having the party rolled on the rare and unique trinket that drops when you complete Alone in the Darkness and I won it! I won the tentacle. It’s cool (and hits things for you).

I forgot to hand in my quests so flew back and did that and got my key to the Planetarium so I can escort my guild to visit Algalon should anyone want to. I completely understand the opinion of those who want to achieve it for themselves and will only use it if everyone wants to. It’s an option I can use if there are people who want a look at a starry boss
Then I picked up my mail. Oh boy was I a happy girlie.

I spent the whole weekend on a high. I had the most amazing experience and feel it was worth every single copper. I really don’t care that people might say things like I didn’t earn it, but I did - I earned my gold and found some people willing to let me pay to have that experience and the rewards that came with it. It will be remembered as one of my best nights in WOW ever and was a great way to spend the last evening before I started work.
If you have the cash and want a great night, but can’t see yourself and your guild managing it in the near future I’d strongly urge you to go for it! I will never regret going and I’m sure I would regret not having been once the drakes are removed from the game.
Starcaller Sephrenia, rider of the Rusted Proto-Drake was, and still is, happy. Very, very happy.
