Some thoughts on 10 vs 25 man raids
Well, it’s taken me a while to get round to writing something and I’m not really sure what I want to say. There have been lots of comments for and against and all that sort of stuff. For me I will be able to play as and when I really like, without being looked down on or having to do with lesser loot. I play how I want now, but in my guild we are penalised for not going into 25 man raids.
You can argue all you want that 25 man raids are harder to organise, take more work, need more dedication and all that sort of baloney, but I’ve led 40 man raids, so I know what it was like. Some people prefer 25 man raids. Some prefer 10 man raids. Some even still prefer the old 40 man raids and stick at them and don’t buy the expansions.
Getting 40 players to sit still for a screenie was hard back in those days… (yeah, it was before I found add-ons). My first kill of Ragnaros. The real version - with 40 level 60 characters. (By the way - the bear is a pet, not a druid. Back in those days durids were for healz, not for tanky).

When the changes arrive we will all be able to pick what we want to do and enjoy ourselves without the pressure to play any other way. It is for that reason I think it’s a good thing.
My guild has stuck to strict 10 man raiding and I am proud of that. Oh we’ve had our share of raiders wanting to be free to PUG 25 man ICC, but we’ve stuck to our guild principles and in my opinion have done very very well.
I think there will be some movement about as people shift to the sort of raiding they prefer, but in the end it comes down to (in my eyes) “do I prefer 10 or 25 man” rather than “do I want some more loot opportunities”. And of course, should we have a spectacular day of sign-ups we could possibly even do a 25 man on the odd occasion. Hmmm, but then our name might have to change. TakeTen doesn’t really fit if we run 25 man (or woman) things does it

I remember the vanila days. Druids for heals and raids only had paladins for MT healing and to buff. No shamans arround, and if they were you would kill it, since it was a horde. I miss those days but still like the changes they made to the classes. The cataclysm changes to raids ilvl gear and lockouts. I don’t like them but i see a lot of reasons for Blizzard implementing them. The biggest reason is money. I am a 25 man raider by heart and always will be. However i still fancy a 10 man raid from time to time. Whatever Cataclysm will bring i wish the best for Taketen.

Ten-man is easier to say (and faster to type) than ten-person
Or, for my own guild, 5-man/5-woman? Half-man-raid? /shrug!
