Interesting observations

So - what to do when you’ve killed Lich King…. move on to Heroics?

We had a little go yesterday. To be honest, I think we’re all a little battle weary and couldn’t really face trying TOO hard. We need to read up some tactics a bit more. We had several valiant attempts on Marrowgar, getting him to 15% at best think, but we were tired. Bugger this we thought and changed it to Normal. We still died. Turns out the noob priest Raid Leader, hadn’t reset it properly (me, yes).

Thank goodness, we COULD actually still kill some things. On Normal he went down really fast - I barely had time to heal anyone! We weren’t suddenly completely crap!

On to try Lady shoutalot. Good grief her into waffle is tiring. PLEASE Blizzard, can you give us an option to turn off the diatribe once we’ve heard it the first time? Please?

We did OK with her and we plodding long nicely, but a bit behind on the enrage timer when we wiped. By now, time was getting on and we really wanted something heroic dead. We all knew that Gunship would be a doddle. It was. We were playing with the bomb getting knocked back for fun at the end. Someone’s smoke alarm went off in the middle of the fight and we kept him alive while he sorted it, swapping someone else to the cannons.

Free loot. New toys, for me? …. HURRAH! I have a shiny new dagger to gem and enchant.

Oh, I got sidetracked - the interesting observations….

We shot up to 49th place in Europe in the strict 10 man progress rankings on GuildOx and 122nd in the World. I did a bit of research to find out which Heroic bosses other guilds had done so we know which to try on HC while we make our way back to duff up Arthas again.

NO Strict 10-man guild has killed Arthas on Heroic. Less than 1% of guilds world wide have achieved it.

For Normal LK the stats are: Achievement rates: World 25.05%, 25m guilds 30.12%, 10m-strict guilds 1.54%

This makes me feel good on so many levels. We still have a BIG milestone we can aim for. We have achieved something only 1.54% of Strict 10-man guilds worldwide have achieved and only 25% of ALL guilds, strict or not have managed to do.

I’m gushing, rambling and have lost the plot… I still don’t think I’ve reached the ground properly from the high of the kill.

It does make me wonder how it will all pan out once Cataclysm comes and 10 and 25 man raiding will be on a level footing. Will be very interesting :)

Wow, 1%! It that “1% of the 10-man strict guilds killed LK”, or “1% of the guilds who killed LK were 10-man strict”? We did it in 25-man gear so we didn’t have major DPS/healing problems, it just took a while to learn the strategy. How the hell could you manage your mana for that in 10-strict gear? :o I innervated like crazy and our priest got 2 innervates/try from the boomkin. She tried both disc and holy and said she was still ooming.

As for the question - yep, definitely heroics. That was our plan all along when we made the guild: kill LK, do heroics, get drakes! I don’t really care if we kill LK on heroic since he’s not required for the frostwyrm :D

Only 1% of ALL guilds worldwide have killed LK Heroic 10 man, so this includes 25 man raiding guilds who then run 10 man stuff on “off” days, etc. NO Strict 10 man guild has achieved it yet.

You have to do all the end wing bosses on HC first before you can attempt LK on Heroic, so that foils my evil plans to clear the rest and try him HC and be the first guild to do it ;)

Of all guilds that qualify for the strict 10 man rating, only 1.54% of them have killed LK on Normal.

I didn’t have any mana issues in the LK fight. I don’t think I nabbed an innervate either. We had 3 talented healers - Me (Disc priest), a Shaman and a Tree. It worked well together. Ofc our tanks were amazing (even if it was one of their first times at LK) and our DPS did LOTS of dps. In the end it was down to coordination and practise.

WOO HOO - I’m still hyper about it!

Wow, that’s really really low percentages… I feel very good about myself now :P

Did you have any replenishment in your raid? Maybe that would explain the mana… We didn’t have any (and probably won’t have any in the near future either).

Replenishment - erm… Now you’re asking! That’s too technical and theorycrafty for me!

We had 2 priests (one disc, one shadow), a mage who had spent all week ill in bed, 2 druids (a tree and a chicken), a warrior (who normally tanked but we decided he would be best of the 3 tanks to do dps) and a wonderful shaman healer.

The mage was arcane spec and looking on Wowwiki it would seem we had a Shadow priest and a Paladin who might give us replenishemnt. Looking at the logs I think I got back 54000 mana from it - mostly from the Ret Pala - you need one of those :)

Ah… that explains part of it. Afaik ret pally, hunters - of some spec? -, spriests and frost mages have replenishment… and we don’t have any :D Thank god for ICC 25 mana levels..
