Salty Sephrenia :)
Well, Saturday came and it was HOT in the UK. Well, too hot for me anyway. My MS symptoms get exacerbated by the heat and I felt tired, aching, my numbness returned to my hands - basically urgh. Hubby told me to rest and chill and have a day off. So - I tried to log into WOW, but the login servers were messing about! Blizzard - why do you hate me so?
I finally managed to log in about noon. I wandered round an almost deserted Dalaran and noticed Mr Big Walrus by the fishing fountain. Ohhhh! Fishing Contest. I’ve wanted to try the fishing contest for nigh on 4 years, but never really been able to because it’s on a weekend and weekends are predominantly family time. It’s hard to be quick and focussed when you have kids about.
When LK was due out there were mutterings that the Kalu’ak contest would be on a Wednesday evening and I was delighted. But it was not to be - it was changed to a Saturday from 2-3 game time. Meh!
I thought that it would be one of my best opportunities for a long time given that people were having challenges logging in. I flew to the coast in Howling Fjord and worked out a route which had 6 pools in a line and no nasty mobs to attack me while I fished. Son decided to give it a try too and went off to Borean Tundra to try his luck there.
Suddenly it was 12:58 (according to my clock - I’m an hour behind server time) and Elder Clearwater yelled out that the competition was about to begin! Early! This was also in my favour
I fished, flew, fished, got 19 Imperial Manta Rays and suddenly got a crate and a SHARK! OMG! Hearth, hearth! QUIIIIIIICK! Son called out to me to be fast because someone close to where he was fishing was hearthing too.
I ran like the wind to Elder Clearwater and tried to hand the quest in …….. “You must pick a reward” ….. argh, pick, pick, that one!
And RESULT!

I completely missed getting a screenie of the actual achievement flashing up, but hey! My hands were shaking with excitement / nerves, etc. (and didn’t stop for a good 15 minutes afer).

I was missing one achievement from my meta. I did some reading over at THE HOLY place for fishermen and women and decided to go for the Dark Herring.
I have tried over the past 2 weeks to get this fish. I have (well had - I sold some) 150 food made from the herring I caught trying. I decided to rest some more and fish. I did an hour and wandered off to get some garden rest. I came back. My bags were getting stupidly full, but I wasn’t ready to hearth back to Dalaran yet. I had 192 Fangtooth Herring and 149 Pygmy Suckerfish as well as cloth, ore and leather from crates…. I threw out some of the real rubbish I have in my bags (as opposed to the necessary rubbish like Baby Spice, Sin’dorei Orbs, etc).
I was down to one bag slot left when suddenly I hit the jackpot!

Fortunately I have 493 cooking awards so could cook up my fishies. Food anyone?
And here I am in all my titled splendour….

It would be nice if I could string together some titles. I think I’d like to be “Elder Ambassador Starcaller Salty Sephrenia Jenkins, the Patient Diplomat Kingslayer, Champion of the Frozen Wastes” or something similarly elegant and pompous
I have since realised that I probably picked the wrong reward since I don’t do alts. I have asked a GM if I can change it for the other prize and have my fingers crossed. But I don’t really mind.
I did try out an alt for a while. I took my druid to try and heal Nexus. She is level 71. It was so hideous an experience I Alt F4-ed out. But that is a whole other story………

Congrats! I felt exactly the same when I won the STV fishing contest - a few people in the area even whispered me with congrats which was lovely of them. I do want to win the Kal’uak fishing contest too, for the ring, because I really do do alts
but the fact that you got Dark Herring too deserves a huge grats

Congratulations! That’s great news! Personally I’m too lazy to skill fishing to compete - which is silly cause I do enough alts to really want the heirloom ring too! Again, big congratulations - and hope you can change it since you don’t do alts
